Teaching & Learning Philosophy

My beliefs about teaching and learning began at home. My parents had a significant impact on my development as they provided me with values and gave me rich learning experiences.

Further aspects include boarding at St Bede's College for 5 years and a year living in Ireland as a boarding school tutor, rugby player, and coach.

Being a husband and father has also strengthened my ability as an educator. I am a dedicated family man who understands the importance of quality family time.

As a leader of learning, I make an impact on children’s learning and achievement through:

  • modelling values i.e. caring, respect, honesty, perseverance

  • instilling a positive attitude, self-confidence and belief

  • displaying manners

  • using commonsense

  • a sense of right and wrong

  • setting high expectations for all

  • ensuring the curriculum is engaging and relevant

  • individualising  courageous learning

  • being creative, curious and connected

  • parent involvement with their child’s education

  • creating a community of care
